Electromobility has become a key component in transforming cities into more sustainable and efficient models. In this regard, São Paulo stands out as a leading example of adopting electric transportation solutions, facilitating its shift towards a cleaner energy system. Enel X is at the forefront of this movement, driving the progress of electromobility in Latin America and Brazil.
Sao Paulo's electric public transportation revolution
Sao Paulo, one of the largest metropolises, has taken the initiative to electrify its public transport system. This change seeks to reduce CO2 emissions, improve air quality, and offer more efficient and accessible transportation. Enel X has played a vital role in this transformation by providing a comprehensive solution that includes electric buses and the necessary infrastructure for recharging.
The commitment to electromobility is not accidental. The city has implemented concrete measures to make electric transportation a reality.
Enel X inaugurated its first recharging center in São Paulo, strategically located in the parking lot of Shopping SP Market on Avenida das Nações Unidas.
This new station offers a practical and efficient solution for electric vehicle owners. It can charge up to 20 cars simultaneously.
To develop this project, the company conducted an exhaustive analysis to identify the points with the most significant unsatisfied demand, especially regarding fleets and application vehicles.
"We study the flow of vehicles and their needs using heat maps of fleet movement," explains Jorge Cernadas, Marketing, and Sales Manager in Electromobility for Latin America at Enel X. "We are also studying the flow of vehicles and their needs using heat maps of fleet movement," he says.
With an area of 230 m², the hub is not only located on one of the city's main roads, which facilitates access for drivers, but it also meets a critical need in the Southern Zone. This region has not had similar services until now.
This hub can charge up to 20 electric vehicles in parallel and has an installed power of approximately 200 kilowatts.
"This project has been the result of collaborative work, not only with the companies that will use the hub but also with the mall's engineers to assess electrical availability and reinforcement needs," concludes Cernadas.
Innovation and sustainability in the heart of Sao Paulo
One of the most critical milestones in São Paulo's electromobility agenda is the agreement between Enel X and the city to deploy electric buses along with recharging stations to ensure optimal operation.
The progress of electromobility in São Paulo supports the concept of circular cities, where sustainability extends beyond mobility to include all facets of urban life. This approach has allowed São Paulo to be one of the pioneers in Latin America in the adoption of electric and sustainable mobility solutions.
The city demonstrates that electromobility is a viable solution for large cities seeking to reduce environmental impact and improve the quality of life of their inhabitants. Electric public transport has emerged as a critical component in achieving a fair energy transition. The commitment of companies like Enel X highlights that the journey toward cleaner mobility is well-established and serves as a model for the region.
The city's effort is not only a local breakthrough but a step towards the creation of circular cities, where economy and sustainable mobility become the heart of urban planning.
