These achievements reiterate Enel Colombia's firm commitment to the diversification and reliability of the energy matrix.
The largest solar plant in Colombia
Enel Colombia has launched La Loma Solar Park, which has a capacity of 150 MWac, making it the largest solar energy project in the country. This initiative reaffirms the company's commitment to enhancing the energy matrix and advancing toward a future powered by clean and renewable energy.
"Our biggest challenge at this stage is to achieve the highest efficiency of our equipment, and how do we accomplish that? Jonathan Vanegas, operations supervisor at Enel Green Power, said.
The plant, located in the municipality of El Paso, Cesar, was inaugurated in February 2024. It has 400,000 solar panels distributed over 387 hectares, generating some 420 GWh per year. This project has benefited more than 600,000 people and generated approximately 1,720 new jobs in the territory, 77% in the region.

Along with the La Loma Solar Park, the Fundación Solar Park, equipped with more than 244,000 solar panels, also came into operation. This park will provide 267 GWh/year, which represents the capacity to supply the energy needs of 120,000 homes in Colombia and avoid the emission of around 140,000 tons of CO2 per year.
"Operation and maintenance are about ensuring reliability, maximizing power generation, and extending the life of the equipment. says Angélica Morales, Electrical Engineer at Enel Green Power.
Construction began in July 2022, hiring 1,500 workers through various phases. Approximately 47% of these workers are from the Magdalena department, generating a total of 1,191 construction jobs. Over 700 individuals have benefited from projects aimed at job training and programs such as Good Energy for Your School.
In this way, the Fundación Solar Park not only contributes to the transition to clean energy in Colombia but also does so responsibly, guaranteeing environmental protection and the viability of its operation over time.
La Loma, Fundación, and the El Paso Solar Park, also owned by Enel, are three of the six central dispatch solar projects in Colombia that have already begun commercial operation. So far in 2024, the solar parks energized by the company (El Paso, La Loma, Fundación and Guayepo I&II) represent more than 34% of the solar energy generated in the country's interconnected system, thus consolidating Enel's commitment to the diversification and reliability of the energy matrix.
