El The “Prof. Dr. Juan Pedro Garrahan” children’s hospital is the benchmark for high complexity public health in Argentina. This is Latin America’s leading pediatric care institution, and one of the top ten in the world.
As a celebration of Enel Generación Costanera’s last anniversary and in line with its new philosophy of opening up power to more people, it launched collaborative activities with the hospital’s foundation. This initiative made the company the sponsor of a room at the Casa Garrahan. This facility serves as a home for children who live more than 100 kilometers from the city of Buenos Aires and are receiving treatment at the Elizalde, Garrahan, or Gutiérrez hospitals, while they are outpatients or are awaiting the results of tests for complex illnesses that do not require hospitalization. The Foundation supports this important program thanks to the help of collaborators and sponsors, including our Group.
Garrahan is one of the most beloved and highly valued institutions amongst the Argentina’s families, so any action to work with it always receives support from many of Enel’s workers in the country.
Power is health
A group of volunteers from the Group’s companies went to the Casa Garrahan to renovate the building’s electrical system, replacing fluorescent lighting with LED-based systems. They removed antiquated units and adapted the fittings in order to replace them with new lighting units. The result: a drop in temperature and lighting power consumption, and a significant improvement in lighting efficiency for the building.
