Núcleo Enel
Thanks to the alliance we signed with “Sinfonía por el Perú” association, led by the renowned tenor Juan Diego Florez, we created Núcleo Enel in 2012, a workshop that made possible for 544 children and adolescents of the concession area to have access to classical music education for a long period and develop values such as trust, innovation, proactivity and responsibility. By reinforcing their artistic skills, the workshop has helped them develop personally as well as improve their self-esteem and leadership skills, promoting social integration among its members.

In 2017, we donated 46 computers to educational institutions such as Hermelinda Carrera Orphanage, “Lazos de Amor” Residential Care Centre- INABIF, Huinco’s Health Centre and the Educational Institute No. 20539 Francisco Bolognesi (Barba Blanca).
School Campaigns
At the beginning of the academic year, we delivered kits with school supplies to rural schools nearby the area we perform operations. This campaign benefited 2,463 children in Lima and 451 children in Junín.
Computer Science for All - Junín
We conduct this programme to provide young people living in Junín with basic knowledge about computer tools necessary to access the digital world. 1,570 young people participated, 59% of which were women, learning the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The importance of computer skills to enhance employment and social opportunities was proven through the case of 56 small entrepreneurs who participated in the programme. They stated that, thanks to the acquired knowledge, they could increase their revenues by approximately 42%. The application of these tools helped them to monitor their inventories and costs better. In some cases, they were even able to prepare advertising materials for their businesses.
Academic Visits to the Power Plants – Lima
We promoted training for university students of degrees related to the energy sector through planned academic visits. 390 students from different universities and educational institutions visited our thermal and hydroelectric power plants, thus receiving first-hand information from our staff about the running of the power stations.
Induction talks to suppliers and employees on social-related topics
We conduct induction talks on social-related topics with the aim of spreading the main guidelines and policies that regulate our relation with stakeholders. We address topics such as Enel Group’s human rights approach, the adequate use of information by contractors and the Zero Tolerance Plan towards corruption. In addition, we disseminate our commitment to the Sustainability Development Goals.

‘Santa Elena de Piedritas’ Educational Institution
Since 2005, we are committed to improving educational services of Santa Elena de Piedritas Educational Institution to promote the development of children within our area of influence. It all started with a multi-grade class which has now turned into a school with appropriate environments to provide education from pre-school to sixth grade of primary school. At the beginning of 2017, after the damages caused by ‘El Niño’ Phenomenon, we improved its sport centre by implementing dressing rooms, reinforcing structures and painting it. Furthermore, we installed signage and extinguishers and shut areas that were dangerous for children. In order to improve educational quality, we continued providing economic support so that children and teachers have access to transport. In addition, we continued training in the vegetable garden.
Talks on electrical safety at home and fire prevention
During 2017, residents of the Piedritas village were trained on safety and prevention of electrical hazards at home and the street, with the aim of mitigating incidents in households due to the bad use of electrical energy. Likewise, we received the support of specialists to prevent forest fires caused by burning trash, which is a common practice in the area and endangers dry forests.
Educational scholarships
This initiative was created to ensure that children of the Santa Elena Educational Institution continue their secondary school studies, as they do not have access to this important part of education due to diverse social and economic reasons. The educational scholarships were granted prior an academic and psycho-pedagogical evaluation to the 4 candidates and a socioeconomic evaluation to their families performed by the secondary school where the grant holders will be enrolled. In 2017, two girls received this benefit, whose main requirement is to obtain a minimum average of 14 throughout the year.
