Britaldo Soares is a metallurgical engineer from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He holds a master's degree in Business Economics from Fundação Dom Cabral and a master's degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business Executive Education.
In his first work experience he spent 10 years at Citi (Sao Paulo, Brazil) where he was Vice President of Corporate and Investment Banking. Later he moved to Rio de Janeiro as Finance Manager of Jari Celulose where he became CEO of the company, expanding his functions for the Caemi/Jari group of companies.
From 1999 to 2005, he became CFO of Enron America do Sul, Elektro and Prisma Energia. He then assumes the position of CFO of AES Brasil Group, from where he rises to CEO of the company and its businesses Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de São Paulo S/A, AES Tietê Energia, AES Sul Distribuidora Gaúcha de Eletricidade and AES Uruguaiana S/A.
In 2016, he is appointed chairman of the Board of Directors of AES Sul and the same appointment for AES Tiete S.A. Then, in 2018, he is appointed chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industries. Between 2019 and 2022 he is a member of the Advisory Board of Sterlite Power Brasil.
In 2018, he is an independent director of Odebrecht Engenharia & Construção and 5 years later becomes a management director of the Mover Participações S/A group. Other appointments, in similar period and, subsequently, were those of senior advisor for Cypress Associates, member of the Board of Directors of Atiaia Renováveis, independent director of Frigol S.A., chairman of the Board of Directors of Abradee, independent director of Grupo Rezek, management director of Copersucar S.A.
In 2016, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENEL Distribuição São Paulo (formerly Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de São Paulo S/A). Since 2020 and to date he is vice chairman of the Board of Directors of Enel Distribuição São Paulo.
Britaldo Soares is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mover (Brazil) and partner-owner of the consulting and investment firm B+3.
