Enel Américas has a Biodiversity Policy, approved by the Board of Directors, that seeks to contribute to compliance of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and other national and international biodiversity strategies.
The aim is to respect the no net loss principle of biodiversity through sound project planning and preventive environmental assessment, thereby avoiding, reducing and/or compensating for negative impacts on natural species and habitats that are significant due to their protection category, representativeness indexes, and/or ecosystem value.
The identification and valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services in the areas where the company operates are carried out in conjunction with local communities, academic institutions, and NGOs. Restoration, conservation, and monitoring projects based thereon are then proposed and developed.
